I decided to buy w995a after a thorough study of a number of viable alternatives, such as the Nokia N86 8MP, the good and still underestimated N96 and N82. I chose the Sony because it looks and feels better than other phones, not because it’s better than the others. Let me explain.

This phone is absolutely beautiful. Are brushed metal, it feels good in your hand, and the slide mechanism is almost perfect. It is characteristic of a phone, then you really have no options for changing the user interface that you want a phone with Symbian (ie Nokia mentioned above), but if you trouble- Does it (which does not bother me), it really will not because the menu structure is really perfect and intuitive. He has a great sound, beautiful as it is illuminated, and the call quality is excellent. That said, it is simply not a phone “better” than the Nokia I listed.

For one, the camera is just “ok”. both internal disappoint, although very well taken outside. The video is old school with 30 fps QVGA while Nokia has made DVD-quality video at 30 frames per second in VGA. Not to mention the mobile phones have an optical Carl ziess (regarded as a leading glass manufacturers in the world).

I decided not to go with the Nokia N86 is the closest “competitor. The N86 is a better phone, it has an 8GB hard disk, whereas the w995a comes with an 8GB card. The Nokia can be extended up to a 16GB card has a variable aperture 8MP taking good pictures, and has always Symbian customizable user interface. But it is ugly, and plastic; typical Nokia.

    So, to summarize: The good

beautiful, well built, a beautiful interface

    photos is a good />

    The bad:
other phones in this price range are better supported
should take great pictures, no good
    – The video recording is 2004-era />

It was a difficult choice, but for me, the look of it took the cake!

This exam is very difficult for me because I liked the phone as for so many things, but there are few things that really ticked me for hating the phone that I love so much. Sounds complicated? Well, first let me tell you why I got the phone back.

The reasons why I went back to the phone:
    1. Battery cover does not feel solid on the phone and press buttons to keep. You feel the pressure a little hand pressing the battery cover that causes movement. This was very annoying for me as this otherwise excellent built a phone that looks super sexy. At first I thought it might be my phone. But the replacement phone had the same problem. Then I went to Sony Style stores and few have seen a problem phone store, but another fact. Then, like a lucky buyer can get a good, but not sure how long it feels firm if you continue to open and close the phone. I do it often enough to change the SIM card.

    2. The fonts are too large to display fine of two. 6 “screen. Where were SE developers thinking? For example, the contacts screen shows only 6 contacts at once. With a smaller font would have reflected the 8 contacts very easily. They had a framework to choose small, medium and large fonts and fonts are the current decline in X-large fonts.

    3. Leg. What a joke! The phone would be better if they left or entirely designed in a way for Users have found to remove when not needed. You must call in your pocket with the screen facing the front or side stand could easily leave. Another dumb by design engineers.
    ;
    4. 256-K color. What do you think when SE catch these?

good things about the phone: If you />

Some cool things in phones SE Feature:
Smart Dialing, the convenience of sending SMS, MMS, e-mail to contact interface and MMS is very cool. I think she’s the best performance for the image in all phones, FM radio, accelerometer, Exchange ActiveSync (Office Outlook e-mail and calendar synchronization and synchronization of your Google contacts and calendar Push) and Call Log. In SE phones in the call log, you can “Open” to select and implement any other contact information for the person as other numbers, e- mail, etc. So you can easily call the person on the other tracks Its net or send SMS, MMS or e-mail from logs. In addition, D-pad arrow keys are used to create shortcuts (4 requests ) to your favorite applications. It’s one of my favorite features in phones SE Call Smart Dialing and newspapers when I barely more than 4 applications I use on a phone.
< br /> In terms of applications for the phone, it is enough to feed your needs. Check on GetJar. com or even Sony Ericsson website by browsing the native browser on the phone and you will see a number of free applications you can download. To find the location of the land on the site of Sony Ericsson, while browsing, using applications freer to find that Sony seems to provide some applications in different countries. Even if you use Google you will find many free themes for your phone that the appearance of menus and screen saver.

    W995 Some specialties:
    1. Despite the problems with the support and the battery cover, the phone feels like a tank and it is certainly “WOW WOW” your friends. A work to make the problem of covering the battery is a small piece of paper and fold it over the battery to stop the movement on the cover. Kickstand? glue stupid if you think you’ll never use.
    2. display is super bright and clear even in bright sunlight.
3 . walkman sound quality is simply amazing. I thought it sounded as good as the Zune, I thought that sounds much better than the iPhone.
    4. This is a joke when I have mentioned in Section 3. 5 mm audio jack is a bonus with this phone. But Sony has finally succeeded. Good work there.
    5. WiFi, GPS, 3G AT & T all works like a charm.

Some of my favorite free applications:
Gmail, Google Maps, Shozu, GetJar, TruTap, Fringe, Comeks, Opera Mini ( course), Blogger, TrackID.

While the phone, I’m still hooked on Sony Ericsson phones for its well-designed software to make calls and send messages back. Unfortunately, most of their newer phones have serious problems of quality of construction. Most of them at the slider design of the battery cover. But I sometimes feel like W995a buy and deal with problems that ‘and they kind of phone problems unaddressed. In addition, there is really no perfect phone out there. At least for me :-( . Well, I even sold my iPhone after a few months of use I thought it felt too large, the battery does not take a whole day, and calling is not as handy as the Sony or Windows Mobile phones or blackberries. ” , br />
Current dollars 399. 1999 price on Amazon is tempting but I will try hard to resist until Xperia X2 will be announced this week.

The W995 is probably the best I’ve used Sony Ericsson phone to date. I have reviewed the more expensive smartphones like the Sony X1 and the Nokia N900, but could not bring myself to pay the high price. With today’s technology will be worthless in six months, or the price would drop significantly. I have the W995 for a bargain and we think it was a good compromise. The physical device looks very elegant. Build quality is very good with the brushed metal finish, feels more solid than the plastic phone average. The screen is very nice as with most phones from Sony that I saw very bright and vivid display. I just learned it is made of scratch resistant material, which is another advantage. The biggest difference I noticed on the W995 over the last few phones I’ve used is the speed of the user interface feels snappy, and especially things like browsing the Internet via WiFi, which is usually a burden on a small device. Where are the menus, GPS, scrolling pages, or turning the phone in landscape mode (using the accelerometer) is reacted instantly. One cool thing, I use the phone (WiFi why I wanted a small camera in the first place) may be used as a wireless remote to control my Logitech Squeezebox and it does so perfectly. Of all the phones I’ve owned, the SE interface is my favorite because it is fast and accurate. The phone also features an 8. 1 megapixel camera, music player with 3 standard. 5mm audio jack and 8GB memory. Finally, Sony has a 3. 5mm jack on the phone I do not know why they have not done it sooner. . It is a Walkman phone. The camera also takes very good pictures, sound and even some inside (or low light conditions), but much better than previous models. It wouldve been nice if they xenon flash on the LED, like on the C905. But the camera is not my first priority and are sufficient for my use. Ive found that even if the subject is well lit the phone takes good pictures. Using the phone for all the tasks mentioned above, the battery stopped OK. Almost exhausted at the end of the day, but thats part of a heavy use since its my new toy. For normal use, I think the 2-3 days before a charge. I think I’m just used to older SE phones that can last week, but did not have as many features as the W995. In general, the function and quality of W995 is a good idea of best phones that I used and probably the best non-smartphone.

I like the thin / sleek design.
I love the big screen and great graphics! This works especially well for the Web and GPS.
Much better than the previous Sony Ericsson sliders I’ve seen or used.
The only drawback is the low battery life – when esecially use of WiFi, Bluetooth and Internet capabilities. When you use these options, I usually charge every night. I think I think I was spoiled when I was a phone with the absence of these options, because I just needed to recharge my phone every 3 or 4 days.

I bought this phone from Amazon a week ago, after researching for over a month looking for my iPhone Classic 16GB to replace. I was looking for a multimedia phone is unlocked and leaning toward the Nokia N85. I must say that although most customers like Nokia, I favor the emergence of the W995a cave. Someone told Cnet is not the sexiest phone around, but I beg to differ, the phone is very tight, the slide mechanism is flawless and the overall presentation of the material is much finer than the a new (available), I saw Nokia. It is thinner than the N85 and the brushed metal casing is very elegant and is much better than the plastic of said Nokia.

It should be noted, as mentioned by other reviewers that this is not a smartphone, which means a small adjustment and most of the applications you get are Web-based, an iPhone two years ago. Because this phone is unlocked (which I really wanted, and the main reason why I have not updated my iPhone), you play with the settings a bit to make the most of the functions of the phone for . For example, I struggled to find ways to get the videos on the YouTube application that is part of the interface of the media. I MediaNet (EDGE) services from AT & T and was unable to broadcast video. When I discovered that if you disable the Wi-Fi, you will get, but a little ground since EDGE is not the best for streaming video. That said, I still understand how to get it to stream over WiFi, which should be much better. Curiously, most reviews elsewhere have the opposite problem: they could listen over WiFi, but could not get it to stream over EDGE. The solution seems to be WiFi opening additional ports on your wireless router, I’m completely illiterate. It is therefore a major drawback of the phone: a phone that is asserted that the flagship multimedia device from the SE, all bugs and problems need not be present, especially in this price range. Unable to access good YouTube is simply unacceptable. Paying customers should not try to understand what the engineers and technicians time HE paid for the waste. If you visit the site of SE and find support for this device, you can get the settings sent to your phone for a good Web browsing, email and MMS. . . but nothing for the video streaming problem.

This phone comes with an 8. 1 MP camera with LED flash. The pictures outdoors with natural light is OK, but things worse indoors or in low light. If you already have a good point and shoot, this phone will not replace it. If you are looking for a new phone and an old point and shoot, upgrade, then maybe this phone will save you money. Do not get me wrong, the camera is very good, it’s just that reading 8. A member of the sheet creates high expectations.

The real pleasure of this phone is the music. The sound is just great. I do not know what I was sacrificing sound quality with my iPhone and iPod until I listened to music on the phone: I was blown away. It is also worth mentioning that the phone has an FM radio, which is actually very pleasant. The software features included Media Go as a iTunes-like approach to manage all your media files on your phone. It has an interface drag-and-drop it easy to transfer music, videos or photos to add the phone and guess what? Also from your phone to your computer (take that iPhone!). Like any new software, Media GB is not without flaws. Transferring songs from my library on my phone, I get many error messages on failed transfers. I could go back and adopt some of these, but sometimes there were so it was difficult to keep (the program puts a check mark next to all the recipients of transfers, but does not provide a visual indication whether the models also unsuccessfully). He did not display some of my illustrations iTunes. However, if you already use iTunes as a music player and the media organization of the program will MediaGo simply just import from your iTunes folder. Another important caveat is that updating the firmware of the phone knew the phone’s internal memory (no memory card or SIM card), it is important to backup your phone using the SE PC Suite to update each day.

The call quality is just OK. It can be very poor in noisy environments, e. g. supermarket. Google Maps work very well. So, in summary, if you are looking for a great looking phone with excellent music player, video player OK, OK, camera and do not want to sign a 2 year contract bleeding, you should definitely consider W995a.

Update (after 3 months with the phone): So even if the media experience Go is not the best, I was pleased with the phone in general. That is until today when I updated the firmware. I have a backup of the phone, as recommended, and followed all the instructions. Then, after the update I restored my phone with my backup. Contacts to restore failed and now I lost all my contacts, but what is worse, all settings that I had a number of them, i. e. , Ring tones and images. Not only that, but about half of all music and videos I erased the memory card, which would not have done, since only the phone memory is supposed to be cleaned during the update firmware. All these things are simply unacceptable for a phone this expensive. I have never had such problems with my old iPhone. I’ll try to get rid of this phone as soon as possible and return to the sad reliable products, but Apple.
